2016 Wealthiest Hip-Hop Artistes –
Forbes has released it’s 2016 edition of Forbes Five, the five
wealthiest hip-hop artistes, with Drake making his debut.
2016 Wealthiest Hip-Hop Artistes – Dr. DreThe list is made up of the usual suspects: Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Dr. Dre, Jay Z and Birdman. With multiple legal battles, a filing for bankruptcy and a dwindling personal fortune, rapper 50 Cent didn’t make the list, creating space for Drake to join the big men.
With
a net worth of $750 million, Diddy is still the wealthiest artiste in
the game. The business mogul has several streams of income, including
his Sean John clothing line and water brand AquaHydrate. His deal with
vodka brand Ciroc also brought in a tidy sum.
Dr.
Dre’s $710 million keeps him in second place, with the rapper still
enjoying the benefits of selling Beats to Apple. A biopic about his
former group NWA, Straight Outta Compton, also put some money
in the bank. Jay-Z is valued at $610 million, and while he has a number
of investments, music service Tidal seems to be the main cash cow for
Hov right now.
Cash Money boss Birdman was a far-0ff fourth, with
his $110 million worth down from last year thanks to all the label drama
with marquee act Lil Wayne. Drake rounded up the top 5, with his latest album Views,
projected to sell over 1 million units in its first week. The rapper
has deals with Apple, Sprite and Nike, all helping to give him a
valuation of $60 million.
